Why I wanted to start a foundry

After a decade working inside large manufacturing organizations, I grew increasingly frustrated by the inefficiencies, the lack of strategy, and the resistance to innovation that plagued even the most critical industries. Over time, I wasn’t just noticing problems — I was preparing to solve them. I spent years quietly building experience in metallurgy, manufacturing operations, software integration, and process design, waiting for the right opportunity.

That opportunity came when I learned just how broken the U.S. casting supply chain had become — with lead times for critical defense parts approaching 800 days, and thousands of domestic foundries having closed. I didn’t want to compete with legacy businesses. I wanted to rebuild capability where it had already failed. Magnesium casting stood out: it’s difficult, high-value, and almost entirely missing from the domestic market — especially for aerospace and defense.

My approach is different. I’m building a digital-first foundry that uses software, simulation, and low-pressure casting techniques to produce high-precision parts with shorter lead times, lower costs, and fewer defects. We’re designing our systems from the ground up to solve the actual problems — integrating everything from ERP to mold-making and quality assurance into a single, efficient workflow.

I’m doing this because I believe the U.S. needs it. Because I want to be part of the solution. Because I want to inspire the next generation of engineers and manufacturers to reach even higher. When I look at what past generations accomplished — like flying across oceans in comfort through extreme environments — I’m reminded that the bar is high, and it’s our turn to raise it again.
